We were commissioned to sensitively redesign and reimagine the late Tim Dolby’s garden art studio, transforming it into a peaceful, multifunctional retreat that honours his artistic legacy. The brief was to create an inviting sanctuary for visiting artists—a space that felt warm, calm and creatively inspiring, while subtly reflecting Tim’s deep love of nature and the surrounding Surrey Hills.

The studio was carefully updated inside and out, introducing natural textures, soft tonal palettes and gentle architectural modifications that elevated the comfort, flow and atmosphere of the space. Select pieces of Tim’s artwork were integrated thoughtfully into the interior, ensuring his presence remained at the heart of the studio.

The result is a beautifully quiet and restorative hideaway—part guest suite, part creative haven—designed for reflection, relaxation and artistic exploration. A small but deeply meaningful project, and a delightful space to stay, make, and simply be.
